Promotion Requirements & Non-Privilege
8th GRADE PROMOTION CEREMONY REQUIREMENTS
Participating in the promotion ceremony is a privilege for those students who have demonstrated academic achievement and exhibit good behavior. In order for students to participate in promotion ceremonies, the following requirements must be met.
6 Point Requirement
Students must acquire 6 points in each core class to be promoted to the following grade. These core classes include English, Math, Science, History, and PE. The 6 points must be acquired throughout the four quarters depending on the grades given. The point breakdown is as follows:
A – 4 points D – 1 point
B – 3 points F – 0 points
C – 2 points
For Example:
Student A – Met 6 Point Requirement
Student B – Did Not Meet 6 Point Requirement
Student C – Met 6-point requirement but received an F the 4th Qtr. This student would not participate in graduation ceremonies because the student received an F the 4th quarter.
Non-Privilege
To promote academic excellence in our school, we have developed high standards and expectations. Students on the non-privilege list will not be allowed to participate in any school extracurricular activities or events (i.e. dances, field trips, athletic events, etc.). Students may be placed on the non-privilege list at any time during the school year. A student on the list will remain on it until the end of the next reporting period. Reporting periods include quarter grades, and progress grades. Students having one or more of the following criteria will be placed on the non-privilege list.
