Athletic Eligibility
Students wishing to participate in a sport must have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA. The student must also not be on the non-privilege list. Students who are 15 years old or younger, and are students at Mendota Junior High School are eligible to participate in athletics. Representing Mendota Junior High School as an athlete is a privilege not an entitlement.
Academic Regulations and Athletics:
Students must have a 2.0 grade point average and no F's at the end of the grade reporting period immediately prior to the start of the season will be allowed to participate in athletics. Any students who had a 2.0 grade point average to begin the season but does not have a 2.0 grade point average the next grade reporting period will not be allowed to continue on the team. Grade reporting periods include report cards and official progress reports. If a student raises their grade point average to a 2.0 for the following grade reporting period, he or she will be allowed to finish the season.
Physical Examination:
All athletes who wish to participate in interscholastic athletics must pass a physical examination by a licensed physician or surgeon prior to the first turnout. TriCare physicals as part of Mendota Youth football will not be accepted. The physician's exam form must be on file in the office. All athletes who have been ill or injured to the extent of needing physician care must have doctor's approval prior to re-entering competition in interscholastic athletic events.
